Our sample report #1 was created for a hypothetical bilingual (EN/FR) entrepreneur who was about to start a small business providing entertainment (e.g. crafts, games) services to ladies in the 85+ age range, within the GTA. Because this entrepreneur was francophone he believed he could compete more easily with other players in the field if he capitalized on his charming French language skills.
So he wanted to find a neighbourhood that not only had a high density of females 85+, but also a high density of francophones. He specified the following criteria when ordering his report:
Territory: Toronto CMA (GTA)
Demographics - Age: 85+
Demographics - Gender: Female
Demographics - Marital Status: Any
Demographics - Income Level: Any
Demographics - Mother Tongue: French
Demographics - Ethnicity: Any
Primary Demographic Criterion: Age
The reason he picked Age as the primary criterion (and not Mother Tongue) is that the type of craft works and games he organized where highly targeted to the 'very old lady' market. So while it was nice if the neighbourhood had a high density/concentration of French speakers, the Age demographic was more significant for his particular purposes.
On the other hand, if the service required a lot of communication in French, and the older age category was merely an added bonus, then he would have specified Mother Tongue as being the primary criterion.
